The second division of the mile handicap at Dundalk turned into a duel between eventual winner Just On Fire and Fleeting Moment .
The pair fought it out with well over a furlong to run with Fleeting Moment hugging the rail and Just On Fire coming on the outer.
Ben Curtis got more from his mount in the closing stages to grab the verdict by three-parts-of-a-length.
The winner was defying a hefty 11lb rise for his success at the Curragh earlier this month and was returned an 8/1 shot.
"He's progressing and enjoys this surface," said trainer Andrew Oliver afterwards.
"I'll see what the handicapper does now but I'd imagine he'll come back here over the course of the winter."
9/2 favourite Fluvial trailed in last and was examined afterwards. He was found to have been struck into during the race and also lost a shot. He was sore post race.
