England and Liverpool soccer star Michael Owen will be hoping that Talk To Mojo will prove good enough to carry his colours in the £1 million Vodafone Derby for which there were 171 horses left in the race at the first forfeit stage.
Flat racing's Blue Riband will be run on Saturday June 10th and Talk To Mojo is one of 10 entries Manton-based John Gosden has for the race, while Michael Stoute has 14.
The Godolphin team have a particularly strong hand with 22 entries, nearly all of them unexposed types with Best Of The Bests, winner of the Solario Stakes at Sandown, being the only Group winner among them.
Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien has 20 entries, including the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy winner Aristotle, while Epsom-based Terry Mills whose All The Way finished fifth last year, has left in Norton, Bid For Fame and Torrid Kentavr.
Twelve months ago there were 143 left in at the same stage and Andrew Cooper, group racing manager for United Racecourses said: 'We are delighted that such a large number of horses remain in the Vodafone derby and it will be fascinating to see which horses emerge as the main protagonists for the most prestigious and famous prize in Flat racing.'
