OPTIONS OPEN FOR EKRAAR

Marcus Tregoning reports Ekraar 'absolutely fine' following his fourth place in Sunday's Dubai Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas) at Longchamp.

But he has made no plans for the colt who was added to the Vodafone Derby at last month's second entry stage, as his stable is going through a quiet spell.

'He's come out of the race absolutely fine. He ran a reasonable race and I was happy with him,' the trainer said today.

'We haven't decided where we go with him. Stepping him up in trip is a possibility but I should think we'll keep it open for the next week.

'We're not running many at the moment because they are just not firing, it's just one of those things, we'll just have to sit and suffer.

'We'll probably send out the odd feeler now and again to get an idea about it but just at the moment I won't be running too many.'

Plans are also on hold for stablemate Ethmaar who finished fourth behind Beat Hollow in the Green Ridge Stables Newmarket Stakes earlier this month.

'He wasn't quite 100 per cent after Newmarket and again, because they are not quite firing, he'll be put aside for a while, not for too long I hope,' Tregoning said.

'To my mind he is a horse that wants top-of-the-ground so this warm weather should help him.'

Tregoning added that there are no plans for last season's much-improved handicapper Albarahin.
