OKAWANGO KEEPS CRITERIUM AT HOME

Okawango became the first home-trained winner of the Grand Criterium for five years when taking the Group One contest at Longchamp this afternoon.

The Criquette Head-trained colt, ridden by stable jockey Olivier Doleuze, just outbattled Irish raider King`s County whose chance was not helped by Olivier Peslier dropping his whip inside the final 100 yards.

The fellow Aidan O`Brien-trained Honours List was third, with Mick Channon`s Cd Europe - who chased home Noverre in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster last month - fourth, after making the running in the early stages.
