Former amateur rider and successful trainer Eoghan O’Grady has been appointed manager at Cork Racecourse Mallow and will take up the role with immediate effect.
Andrew Hogan was managing both Cork and Tipperary racecourses but will now concentrate on the latter venue to oversee the development of an all-weather track.
O’Grady, who held a trainer’s licence since 2005 and enjoyed notable success with the likes of 12-time winner Westerner Point, Mick The Jiver and On The Net said: “With the support of the board of directors and the hard-working team here I am very much looking forward to this role.
“I am very grateful to Andrew Hogan for all his guidance since the start of the year and wish him well in future endeavours,” added O’Grady, who won the valuable Tim Duggan Memorial Handicap Chase three times at the Limerick Christmas meeting.
Chairman of Cork Racecourse Mallow, Tom Gaffney, commented: “On behalf of my board colleagues, the management and support team, and our loyal customers, I wish to express gratitude to Andrew for his commitment, loyalty and vision for Cork Racecourse.
“His commitment was notable particularly during the COVID period, but also in the development of the seven-furlong track. We wish him continued success in delivering the plans for Tipperary Racecourse.
“We look forward to working with Eoghan as we seek to optimise the investment in the track and facilities by satisfying the enjoyment criteria of our existing and potential customers.”
