Joseph O’Brien has experience of winning the Galway Plate with Early Doors in 2020, and is ready to step Solness up in trip for Wednesday's feature race.
O’Brien told Dave Keena that Solness is progressive and that he’s hopeful he will get the extended two mile six furlong trip.
The trainer said: "He had a great season last year progressing up through the ranks.
"I guess the question mark with him is the distance - most of his best form is at two/two and a-quarter miles.
"If he stays the distance in the Plate, who knows if he wouldn't be involved in the shake up and get a share of what is very good prize money.
"He's the right type of horse (to get the trip), he is a slick jumper and a strong traveller. There's only one way to find out with the distance, see how far we can stretch the band.
"If he goes the distance, he'll have a live chance."
Solness won a handicap chase at Fairyhouse in December and was placed in a €100,000 handicap chase over fences at the Dublin Racing Festival in February.
