O'Brien doubles up on Days Joseph O'Brien completed a quick double when Days Ahead prevailed in a thrilling finish to the Goresbridge Handicap at Gowran Park. The champion settled his mount mid-division and got a nice run on the inner to challenge at the furlong pole. He soon gained a narrow lead as Mahrajaan challenged on his outer and Juara came between the pair. Days Ahead gained the upper hand in the closing stages to score by half-a-length for trainer Eoin Doyle at 10/1. Mahrajaan took the runner-up spot with another half-length back to Juara. The winner has been a great servant for the yard and was recording his fourth win on the Flat having also scored three times over jumps. “That's the way to ride him,” said Doyle afterwards “That's probably his grade on the Flat and it's grand that he's got the job done. He'll probably go to Listowel now for a handicap chase.” (Additional reporting by Donal Murphy)
