New Grandstand at Gowran

The latest phase of the 6.5 million euro re-development of Gowran Park racecourse - a purpose built new grandstand - was unveiled during a press open day at the Co. Kilkenny track today.

The grandstand, which extends over 44,000 sq feet and cost 3.5m, comprises three levels, and includes a Tote hall, panoramic restaurant, carvery, bars and a betting shop.

The facility will be in full use for the Thyestes Chase meeting next Thursday, but the executive intend to officially open the grandstand at an all hunter chase meeting sponsored by Garryrichard Stud on April 9.

The latest development follows the completion of the parade ring and 127 box stable yard in 2000, and an 18-hole Championship Parkland Golf Course in 2002.
