Today's meeting at Navan is still in some doubt due to frozen ground and a further inspection will be held by officials at 9.30.

Very low temperatures this week resulted in the track becoming unfit for racing, although a significant rise in temperatures on Friday and some rain overnight gave cause for optimism.

A precautionary inspection was called for 7.30 this morning but proved inconclusive and Clerk of the course Paddy Graffin reported: “Following our inspection this morning at Navan, the track has improved significantly overnight.

“However, there are still some areas which remain not quite fit for racing at the moment.

“Given the increase in temperatures throughout the morning, we are going to give it some further time and make a final decision at approximately 9.30am.

“We have had 4mm of rain overnight, with some light showers at present and that is in our favour.”
