Punters who latched on to ante-post Worthington Lincoln gamble Katy Nowaitee were left cursing this morning when she missed the cut for #50,000 race by just one.
The Peter Harris-trained filly has been steadily supported throughout the week from original quotes of 25-1 to as low as 10-1 last night.
But with only three horses taken out of the race at the final 48-hour declaration stage, Katy Nowaitee will now head the weights for tomorrow's consolation Worthington Spring Mile.
Connections could be left feeling even sicker come Saturday as Right Wing, who heads the declared runners for the big race, will only run if there is "significant rain" before the race, according to connections.
But as there is no reserve system in place, the contest will be reduced to just 23 runners should Right Wing miss the race.
Tayseer is set to go off a short-priced favourite to land the spoils for Thirsk trainer David Nicholls, who also saddles Rock Falcon and Peartree House.
