NORWEGIAN HOPE READY FOR AINTREE BID

Scandinavian Martell Grand National hope Trinitro is reported to be on course for the Aintree spectacular on April 8th.

The Norwegian-trained nine-year-old, who beat Philip Hobbs' Ashwell Boy in the Norsk Grand National at Ovrevoll in September, has been allotted 10st 3lb by the handicapper.

"It looks a very good weight and we will hope he gets a run," said trainer Rune Haugen.

"At the moment we plan to go straight to the race without another outing because training conditions are so good at present in Norway.

"But if the snow comes I may run him in Britain in two or three weeks' time, although I am not sure where."

Trinitro has had leg problems in the past but Haugen is pleased with the horse's condition and is hopeful of a good showing at Liverpool.

He said: "The horse is in tremendous form, he was blood tested on Friday and it has never been better.

"He is not very big but is a real bold jumper who stays all day so the Grand National will be right up his street.

"If he gets round I really do think he has a good chance to pick up some prize money."

Robert Bellamy, who partnered Trinitro to his Norwegian Grand National success, is likely to be on board at Aintree.

"He knows the horse and has been round the track at Aintree before," Haugen added.
