Even Flow will miss the Martell Grand National in favour of a tilt at the John Hughes Chase over the same fences 24 hours earlier.
His trainer Terry Casey revealed today: "We only left him in the National because of the weather but he will run in the John Hughes.
"Andrew Thornton has been offered the ride but he would need the weights to go up so it looks like we'll have to find someone else.
"But he's in excellent shape and we've got our fingers crossed for him."
A decision on whether Mely Moss will take his chance in the National has yet to be taken, however.
The nine-year-old holds an alternative engagement in the Martell Fox Hunters' Chase on Thursday, as well as the John Hughes.
Trainer Charlie Egerton said: "He's absolutely fine but we haven't made our minds up yet."
Egerton also had news of Decoupage, third when favourite for the Arkle Challenge Trophy at Cheltenham last month.
"He will run on Thursday (in the Sandeman Maghull Novices' Chase) and is in good form. We have been keeping an eye on the going but it should be all right for him," he said.
Jimmy McCarthy has been booked for the ride.
