NO DECISIONS ON GODOLPHIN CLASSIC CONTENDERS

Potential backers looking for clues regarding Godolphin's Classic contenders must wait a while longer before finding out just which horses the Dubai-based operation will be shipping over to Newmarket.

Godolphin officials will select their final 60-strong team after analysing the results of Saturday's Dubai World Cup meeting at Nad Al Sheba and their own trials which are expected to take place early next month.

'All the horses look very nice at the moment but it is not until you put them to the test that you find out,' said Simon Crisford, spokesman for the organisation.

'We have 28 horses running on Saturday night and then we will hold our turf trials before we decide which are our Classic hopefuls.'

The turf trials involve five or six races run under normal racing conditions and are expected to take place on the weekend of the Martell Grand National (April 8th).

One horse of particular interest to punters is China Visit, who has been the subject of a sustained gamble for the Sagitta 2000 Guineas.

The Red Ransom colt was originally available at 33-1 but has been backed down to 10-1 with William Hill.

'I don't know why he has been backed because we haven't really asked him any questions yet,' said Crisford.

'He runs on Saturday, but on dirt and I don't really think we will get any answers about him until he runs on turf in the trial.'
