NICOBAR DOWNS ANOTHER EPSOM WIN

Nicobar confirmed his liking for Epsom by recording his seocnd win over the seven-furlong course at the Surrey track.

It was at the Derby meeting back in June that Ian Balding`s charge landed his biggest success with a seven-length Listed-race victory.

Since then Nicobar`s form has been in and out but he proved once again under Michael Hills that he relishes the track`s undulations with a three-quarter length success over Veil Of Avalon in the Frenger Systems Fortune Stakes.

'He certainly enjoys Epsom,' said the trainer. 'He was back to his best here and Michael told me he likes to dig his toe in.'

Balding would not be drawn on Nicobar`s next outing but did say the Indian Ridge colt would run again this year before being put away for the

winter.

'We are keeping him as a four-year-old and hoping he will go on to Group class,' the trainer added.

There were a dozen happy owners after the Peter Harris-trained Musical Heath gained an all-the-way success in the Michael J Lonsdale Maiden Stakes over the extended mile.

Harris specialises in putting together syndicates of owners with some success and the latest group the Highlanders were all smiles as they greeted the 13-8 favourite following his emphatic six-length victory over Russian Rhapsody.

'This is one of Peter`s classic 12-share partnerships,' said his representative Simon Double.

'They deserve this victory because the horse didn`t run last year mainly due to immaturity.

'We didn`t really know how good he was but he showed he had talent first time out. The plan today was to make all and it paid off.

'The owners will keep him next year. They normally have a horse for just two years but because he didn`t run last season they are keeping him on.'

Russian Rhapsody`s jockey Neil Callan was banned for five days (September 11-15 inclusive) for careless riding after the stewards found that he had interfered with the unplaced Bajan Broker, ridden by John Reid.

Blushing Bride confirmed her trainer`s confidence by landing the opening Fujitsu General (UK) Median Auction Maiden Stakes.

Jeremy Noseda`s charge stormed through at the furlong pole under Jason Weaver to take up the running from early leader Wolf Venture and go on and land the spoils from the running on Alakanada who was beaten by one and three quarter lengths.

The 3-1 winner has been quietly waiting in the wings until Noseda felt the ground was right for her to be at her best.

'I`m delighted, I thought she would be in the first three and felt that if she handled the track, which can be tricky for newcomers, she would win,' said the Newmarket handler.

'I`ve been sitting waiting with her for two weeks until we had the correct ground.'
