Vodafone Stewards` Cup winner Tayseer may now find his opportunities to be limited in handicap company but the Ladbroke Ayr Gold Cup remains a possibility next month, trainer David Nicholls revealed today.
The six-year-old is among the entries for Saturday`s Joe Jennings Stakes over six furlongs at Newmarket, but Nicholls reasoned: 'He has gone up to a rating of 102 after Goodwood and that kicks in on Saturday.
'So he won`t go there and we will have to have a look for a Listed race or something abroad, though if he does run in a handicap it will be the Ayr Gold Cup.'
Stable-companion Flak Jacket, who won the `consolation` Stewards` Sprint Stakes, is likely to reappear in the Sanatogen Gold Stakes over five furlongs at Ascot on Sunday.
Nicholls went on: 'They haven`t moved him so I think we will go to Ascot though I will have to speak to his owners. Both him and Tayseer have come out of their Goodwood races in good form.'
However, Nicholls said of his third winner at the Sussex track, Zuhair: 'He has run up a bit light so I think we will now wait until York for him in a fortnight`s time.'
