Review NAVAN 13TH NOV

Central House caused a massive shock in the Fortria Chase at Navan when getting the better of returning champion Moscow Flyer.

Dessie Hughes' gelding became only the second horse to beat Jessica Harrington's star, in completed chases, when taking the Grade 2 contest by three-and-a-half lengths.

The two had it between them from the start and Moscow Flyer looked set for victory when leading into the straight.

The distress signals started to go out after the third last, however, and he had no answer when tackled again by Central House, and amateur Roger Loughran, at the last.

Harrington was not downcast after the defeat: 'I'm not disappointed, he needed the run. We'll now be going for the Tingle Creek with every hope of winning.'

Solerina had earlier bounced back to winning ways with a typically game front running performance in the Philips Electronics Lismullen Hurdle.

Gary Hutchinson was reunited with the popular mare in the Grade 2 event and she stuck to her task well in the straight to repel the challenge of Back In Front by a comfortable four lengths.

The mare had been an unlucky faller at Tipperary on her last run over hurdles and winning owner John Bowe said: 'I've never been as nervous before a race and never as happy afterwards. I closed my eyes at every hurdle.

'Gary said the enthusiasm is still there and all being well she'll go for a third win in a row in the Hatton's Grace at Fairyhouse (December 4th).'

O'Muircheartaigh enhanced his reputation with a stylish performance on his hurdling debut in the Bank Of Ireland 'For Auction' Novice Hurdle.

He jumped into the lead at the third last in the Grade 3 contest and Barry Geraghty didn't have to get too serious with the gelding to score by four lengths from Alpha Royale.

The Edward O'Grady-trained gelding remains 12/1 joint favourite for the Supreme Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham with Cashmans.

Nicanor also looked a smart hurdling prospect when an easy six-length winner on his debut over timber in the opening Athlumney Hurdle.

Denis O'Regan oozed confidence on the Noel Meade-trained gelding as he moved through to challenge before the last and his task was made easier with the fall of Skeheenarinky.

The Railway Man took to fences in great style in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase, coming home an easy ten-length winner. The 4/7f led early and went clear before the straight to win on the bridle.
