Review NAVAN 9-MAY-2000

John Oxx introduced a winning 3yo in the shape of Korasoun (11/10-9/10f) in the 3 runner 1m2f race to initiate a treble at a sparsely attended rescheduled flat fixture.

The Darshaan colt, owned by Aga Khan, was happy to sit in 3rd as stablemate Tarwila set the early pace before he forged into the lead 2f out to easily defeat market rival Murawwi (1/1).

'He's a stayer and needs a trip. That's why we put in a pacemaker (Tarwila). He's idle at home but we thought he was better than his work. He's well entered,' said Oxx.

Gaudi (1/2f), one of three horses in training with Oxx owned by the Dundalk Racing Club, justified favouritism under John Murtagh in the 2m maiden after which the Curragh trainer said:

'He was dog lazy and just does enough. He usually wears blinkers but he didn't today and I think they'll be back on him next time,' Oxx revealed.

Mary Williamson and Potentille (1/1) made all to easily account for sole rival Catherina (4/5f) by 8l in the concluding 1m4f race to complete the Oxx three-timer.

Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning shared the honours with Oxx when also combining to record a near 185/1 treble.

Resonate (6/1-8/1) set the ball rolling for the pair when landing the 5f Auction Race before Masnada landed a tidy touch in the 1m handicap.

Supported from 4/1 to 7/4f, the Harry Dobson-owned filly stayed on well under pressure to defeat The Gaidd and top-weight Grassland Star.

The absent Coolcullen handler also missed out on watching Via Rodeo (6/1-13/2) respond gamely to a determined Manning drive inside the final furlong to scoop the 1m2f maiden.

All three of Bolger's winner are by sire Erins Isle.

The Jackpot pool of just #1,247.50 said it all about the attendence with 10 winners taking home #93.50.
