Kings Best today became the second colt in 12 months to change his name after winning a Classic.
An official correction has been made to the name registered for Saeed Suhail's three-year-old, impressive winner of the Sagitta 2000 Guineas last Saturday, deleting the apostrophe in "Kings".
There was a similar change last year when "Saffron Waldon" became "Saffron Walden", to match the Essex town, after he had won the Irish 2000 Guineas.
Saffron Walden went on to finish seventh in the Vodafone Derby, a race for which Kings Best's participation remains a guessing game.
"He's all right after Newmarket but we don't have to decide on the Derby for a few days," Saeed Suhail's racing manager Joe Mercer said today.
Kings Best's odds for the Epsom Classic range from 3-1 favourite with Ladbrokes to 11-2 at Stanley.
