The Galway Festival gets under way next Monday and trainer Willie Mullins believes Galway is a course that suits some horses and doesn’t suit others, and he explains why.
"You need a horse that goes around the track and you don't know until you try it," he says.
"They have got to love climbing a hill - some horses lengthen their stride when they reach that hill and they are well able to climb better than other horses. Some horses hate Galway.
"If you have a horse that runs well around Galway, run him the following year and you can run him twice. I think a horse that won three times a few years ago in the one week (One Cool Poet in 2019). That's extraordinary, but that is horses for courses. It is the most apt saying around Galway."
