Last year's Triumph Hurdle third, Mourad brought to an end a sequence of three second placings when he landed the Go Racing In Kildare Hurdle by an easy ten lengths to complete a double initiated in the opener with Citizen Vic for Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh.
Mourad and Rubi Light dominated the betting for this six-runner contest and the pair had it between them out on the track too. The latter stretched on from halfway, hurdling very well and indeed for a stride or two he looked like he might have stolen a decisive advantage.
However, from before the straight, Mourad had begun to motor, he took over from before the last and went on to prevail with no urging from the saddle required.
Mullins commented: "At last! The extra trip helped and he'll be going up in trip for the rest of the season - two miles four plus. I have no big plan, he's in the Stayers Hurdle but he'd want to be winning like he did today to justify that.
"He told me nothing today that I didn't already know about him."
Ladbrokes go 33/1 Mourad for the World Hurdle, which they sponsor.
