Mulleady & Townend in the news again Mulleady, third at Roscommon last time, an effort that earned her rider Paul Townend a three day ban for his 'air-shots,' redeemed the promise of that performance when landing the Mayo Advertiser Mares Maiden Hurdle at Ballinrobe. The victorious daughter of Definite Article had few friends in the market on track drifting from 4s out to 6s. Via Del Corso (5s into 9/4) and Chiltern Hills (5/4 favourite) were the focus of most of the attention in the ring. Chiltern Hills never looked that happy in front and Mulleady was always looking likely to get the best of the three horse tussle into the straight. She stretched away on the approach to the final flight to comfortably prevail by eight lengths from Via Del Corso with Chiltern Hills fading back into a thirteen length third. Tony Martin trains Mulleady for the Hard Hat Syndicate and he said: "She had a good run in Roscommon and she definitely came on from it. She only came to hand in the spring. "She jumped well today and couldn't have done it any better thought I'm not sure how good the race was. She'll tip away now over hurdles." (DM & EM)
