Muirhead and Bideford Legend, who finished first and second in the Munster National at Limerick, look set to lock horns once again in the Grade 3, United House Gold Cup Handicap Chase at Ascot on Saturday.
The Noel Meade trained Muirhead won the Munster National by a length and three parts from the Charles Byrnes trained Bideford Legend earlier this month.
Muirhead was carrying six pounds less than Bideford Legend and there is likely to be a change in the weights for Saturday's contest.
Speaking from the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training sales in Newmarket today Meade said: "There is a good chance that Muirhead will run but I just want to see the weights before I decide."
Charles Byrnes reported a similar story about his Bideford Legend saying: "He will go as long as his weight is ok and we will find that out tomorrow."
27 horses have been entered for the 3m contest for which the weights will be revealed tomorrow.
The Last Derby who won the race in 2009 is also among the entries for Eoin Griffin while Golden Kite who won the Munster National in 2010 could also line up for Adrian Maguire.
Griffin said today of his 7yo gelding: "He will run as long as the ground stays good.
"Since the Irish National (finished a good sixth) things haven't gone right for him. The ground was too soft for him last time out.
"He won this race before and hopeful he can repeat it again this year. He is a lot better going right-handed."
Interesting entries from the home team are the ex-Arthur Moore trained Stewarts House, who won on his debut for Tim Vaughan and Weird Al, who could make his debut for Donald McCain.
