Mrs Brinkleys foils two gambles Mrs Brinkleys foiled gambles on Remarkable Lady and Roc Of Gold as she just got up to win the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Auction Maiden under Fran Berry for Jessica Harrington and her son-in-law Richie Galway. Fourth on her debut over the course and distance in July the daughter of Arcano was third to French Blue on her last start at Dundalk. Sent off the 3/1 favourite today she was settled behind the leaders and was fourth at halfway. She was ridden into second a furlong and a half from home and kept on well inside the final furlong to just prevail by a short head. The aforementioned Remarkable Lady kept on well down the outer but was just held under Danny Grant for Harry Rogers. The daughter of Zoffany, who was as big as 50/1 in a place this morning, opened on-course at 16/1 before going off at just 6's. Roc Of Gold, who attempted to make all, was a further neck back in third under Rory Cleary for Emmet Mullins. She was available at 28/1 this morning but opened on track at just 10/1 before going off a 17/2 chance. Fran Berry said afterwards: "Just about! There was no pace early but Jessica didn't want to make the running as she had been keen up here on a previous start and needs to relax. "I got a nice split coming to the road and thought I would win a bit easier than I did. She struggled to get by the horse on the inside for a while but when Danny Grant's horse joined me down the outside it kind of helped her. "She was very unhappy in the gates and nearly went under two or three times - the stalls handlers were at their best to keep her in. In the race she was very straightforward. "She showed a good bit of heart and that is probably her minimum trip. Another furlong wouldn't do her any harm." STEWARDS REPORT * P.J. Smullen, rider of Gossip Central trained by A.L.T.Moore, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran keen in the early part of this race. Additional reporting by Michael Graham
