Kielan Woods (17) from Athlone had his second winner in the saddle when Mr Bones defied a mandatory 6Ib penalty for scoring at Bellewstown on Sunday in the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle.
The big two in the market, Mr Bones and Shopfrontspecialist emerged as the main players on the track up the straight but from the last it was the former who proved strongest and he went on to beat the staying-on Impersonator by two lengths.
A graduate of the apprentice centre, and a twenty nine time winning pony race rider, Woods won on his very first racecourse ride on Heroes Square at Thurles back in November.
Jimmy Coogan trains Mr Bones (who actually burst a blood vessel here) for the Howards who also bred the eight-year-old.
Meanwhile Kielan Woods was on a roll on the night as he picked up the prize for the best-turned out in the following race for doing Caroline Hutchinson's Butlers Glen
Michael Butler, rider of Ballyhoctor reluctant at the start and left, was banned for 4-days with regard to his conduct at the start.
