Mixed news of Holy Orders

Holy Orders finally pleased connections in a workout prior to the Melbourne Cup but has been given a tough draw for the Australian showpiece to be run in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Willie Mullins´ charge has been very moody since travelling ´down-under´ but went well this morning under big race rider Davy Condon over six furlongs.

The ground (now officially ´slow´) is also coming more to his liking following some heavy showers but on the down side the gelding has been given a difficult draw in stall 21 of the 24 runners.

A low to middle draw is considered favourable for the Melbourne Cup, and three British-trained runners have been reasonably lucky with Mamool drawn 11, Jardines Lookout alongside in 12 and Hugs Dancer in 14.
