James Doyle judged things to perfection from the front as Noble Mission grabbed Group One glory in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh.
Frankel's full-brother propelled himself into the limelight at the top level when making all in the ten furlong contest in testing conditions.
The Lady Cecil-trained colt kicked for home three furlongs out, taking market rival Magician off the bridle as he tried to bridge a four-length gap.
Noble Mission tired slightly inside the final furlong but had victory wrapped up as he posted a length-and-a-quarter winning margin.
Magician just held off 50/1 shot Euphrasia to take the runner-up spot.
The Khalid Abdullah-owned winner had been the horse for money before racing, trading at 13/8 this morning and returning even-money joint favourite. Magician in contrast had drifted from 4/6 before racing.
Noble Mission had already been successful twice at Group Three level this term and was supplemented for his first attempt at a Group One.
“I really can't believe it and it just shows that dreams can come true. It's great for all the staff at Warren Place and our big aim was to win a Group One and be able to raise the flag for Henry,” said an emotional Lady Cecil.
“James gave him a great ride. I've almost 30 horses for Prince Khalid and without the horses you can't do it.
“I'll have to talk to Teddy (Grimthorpe) before deciding where we go next but to be honest we didn't dare think past today.
“He's in the Eclipse but I'll have to see how he comes out of this.”
