Carberry dictated a sedate pace, quickening up before two out and staying on well under pressure to beat Keelaghan by 1 1/2L.

Boots Madden's patience in waiting for faster ground was rewarded when Team Allstar easily landed the opening two miles handicap under Fran Berry.

The dual purpose eight-year-old gelding was always travelling sweetly and quickened clear from the home bend to beat The Buck by four lengths.

'I've been waiting all year for that ground, and they went a good gallop which suited him. He will probably go for another Flat handicap next,' said Madden.

Michael Manning, who only moved stables three weeks ago, enjoyed a welcome change of luck when saddling Carpetcall to record a shock 33/1 victory in the mile and a half maiden.

The Halling filly led a furlong out for Amy Parsons and kept on well to beat Maal by a length and a quarter.

'There was a compulsory purchase order on the yard outside Dunboyne due to work on the new M3 moterway, so we have moved a few miles down the road to Fairyhouse.'

'I have ten in training and hopefully this filly will go for a handicap at Listowel,' said Manning.

Always The Groom appreciated the firm conditions when getting up in the closing stages under Danny Grant to deny Shaimaa by a head in the mile and a half handicap.

Annagh Lady survived a lengthy stewards enquiry after Mikey O'Connor's mount just got the better of Down By The Sea in the aptly named bumper.

The two principals came together a couple of times in the straight but the stewards left the placings unaltered after some deliberation.
