Ruby Walsh proved more than a match for his Flat colleagues when getting top-weight King Rama up in the final strides of the 1m5f handicap.
The John Kiely-trained gelding, successful at the Curragh on Monday, appeared to have a near impossible task as Amarjit was kicked 5L clear by Chris Hayes three furlongs out.
However Walsh was not about to accept defeat and he galvanised the 2/1 favourite, gradually cutting back the deficit to get up for a neck verdict.
'He's a horse that looks after himself as he sleeps well and eats well. We'll probably give him a break now for a couple of weeks,' said a delighted Kiely afterwards.
Not to be outdone, Declan McDonogh showed just why he captured the Flat jockeys title last season with an inspired 44/1 double aboard Mamlock and Adjudication.
The latter came from off the pace to challenge in the straight of the 42-60 rated 1m5f handicap, benefitting from a strong drive to pip Monahullan Prince by a head.
The market proved spot on in the 1m5f maiden where Mamlook, heavily supported from 4/1 down to 2/1 joint favourite as Trinidad drifted out from 4/5, landed the spoils.
McDonogh made the decisive move by sending his mount into a clear lead before the home turn, and the Key Of Luck gelding held the staying on newcomer Jeux Sont Faits by 4L.
James Barrett saddled his first winner when Dabluffer recorded a shock 33/1 victory in the two and a quarter miles maiden hurdle.
The lightly raced seven-year-old gelding was close to the pace throughout under Martin Mooney, and rallied strongly approaching the final flight to beat Lake Tahoe by 1 1/2L.
'I was an assistant to Charlie Mann in Lambourn and only got my licence in February. I have nine riding out at the moment but have plenty of young horses to come,' said Navan-based Barrett.
He added, 'This horse kept galloping and jumps real well, and may go for a winners of one next in Kilbeggan.'
The Jessica Harrington-trained Global Trucker, a half-brother by Anshan to former stablestar Space Trucker, justified prohibitive odds in the opening two miles maiden hurdle.
The 2/9 chance (from 1/3) jumped to the front three out for Robert Power, and kept on well to beat Catskill by two and a half lengths.
'He's got the same head and colour as Space Trucker and we'll keep him on the go now in winners races. He's suited by two miles and good ground,' said Mrs Harrington.
The father and son team of Pat and Jack Doyle teamed up to land the two and a half miles winners hurdle with Corrieann.
The six-year-old mare made virtually all and stayed on really well inside the final half mile to beat Sparkle Wood by 13 lengths.
Laureldean Belle (Lenny Flynn) cruised to the front two furlongs out in the bumper for an easy 9L success over Ching Ching.
