Review NAVAN 12TH OCT

Owner Des Sharkey, trainer Noel Meade and jockey Paul Carberry have enjoyed a dream run recently in feature jump races, and they combined this time on the Flat as Power Elite readily landed the 9f race.

The five-year-old grey gelding cruised to the front over a furlong out to record a second successive victory in this race by a very comfortable 2 1/2L over Winged Arrow.

Meade will consider a number of options for his next run including the Listed Trigo Stakes at Leopardstown and big handicap hurdles at Down Royal and Cheltenham.

Ground Ball also warmed up for the jumping season in the best possible fashion by taking the 2m maiden under David Casey, leading inside the final furlong to beat Behlaya by 1L.

'He ran a blinder in this race last year, and I'd say it wasn't quite as good a race this time. He will go for the two mile conditions chases and perhaps some good handicaps in England,' said Charlie Swan.

John Oxx saddled his first juvenile winner of the season when Kalmez stayed on strongly inside the final 1/4m for Michael Kinane to beat Mountain by 1 1/2L in the mile maiden.

'He's come on nicely from his first run last month and will go now for the Listed Eyrefield Stakes at Leopardstown,' said Oxx.

Reform Act is another two-year-old being stepped up to Listed company next time after taking the mile fillies maiden, relishing the uphill finish under Pat Shanahan to beat Arosa by 1 1/2L.

'I'm delighted with that brave performance and she'll probably be aimed now at the Silken Glider Stakes at the Curragh,' said successful trainer Dermot Weld's son Mark.

Caroline Hutchinson, who has recently moved stables to the Curragh, sent out her first Flat winner of the season when Curtistown got up close home under Stephen Hunter in the apprentice sprint handicap.

'I've had a lot of placed horses this year and its nice to get a winner. Its a great start from the new yard, and I have 15 in at the moment,' said Ms Hutchinson.

Dolphin Bay was produced with a well-timed challenge by Seamus Heffernan in the ten furlongs handicap, holding on by a fast-diminishing head from the fast finishing Dream Catch.

Trainer James Burns plans to go for a mile and a half handicap on the final day of the season at Leopardstown before going hurdling.

Platinum Blonde made all under Niall McCullagh in the sprint nursery, bravely holding on by half a length from a wall of challengers.

Magnet For Money caused a shock in the concluding ten furlong maiden, leading over 1/4m out under Shane Gorey to beat fellow 25/1 chance Balgriffin by 1 1/2L.
