Declan McDonogh, fifth in the riders table, moved himself on to the twenty seven winner mark courtesy of a treble achieved for different trainers.
The near 34/1 three-timer began in the median auction maiden, McDonogh getting on top a furlong out for his boss Kevin Prendergast, aboard Lady OReillys 5/4 favourite, Keyhopper.
Half an hour later, Declan Gillespie provided the ammunition, Morning Glow battling well to prevail by half a length. This fellow is seen by his handler as a possible juvenile hurdling prospect.
Gamble of that contest, Timber Scorpion (9/2 to 100/30 fav, longer in the morning) could only manage third. However, the Pat Hughes team were soon to atone.
Helensburgh (4/1 for early shoppers and 7/4 to 11/8 on track) was always to the fore in the first divide of the 36-60 hcap, keeping on well under McDonogh to triumph by a length.
The defection of last years winner, Mutakarrim (ground) from the featured Brehon Hotel Chase left the centrepiece as a match between Lakeside Lad and Theseus.
Understandably with the latter rated 49Ibs superior and the pair clashing here off level-weights, Theseus was sent off at 1/6 under Joey Elliott.
Bringing up a double for Pat Hughes, the 4L victor wasnt extended to dispose of his rival despite a mistake three out. Declared for here tomorrow and entered at Kilbeggan Friday, plans are fluid.
Michael Halford was full of praise for his Dow Jones after the Rory Cleary-ridden 7yo had seen off all-challengers in the long-distance handicap.
They dont come much tougher than this fellow, he stays well and hops off the ground and hell continue to mix it, said Halford of his now six-time winner.
Elsewhere Tony Mullins and Mark Watts were on the mark with Vivace in the opener, whilst Pat Martin and Chris Hayes landed division two of the 33-60 hcap with Goose Island.
