Grand National winning trainer Gordon Elliott got off the mark on home soil when Toran Road scored at Kilbeggan on Saturday night.

Younger brother Joey did the steering on the gelding and produced him to challenge at the last in the handicap chase.

King Maxie crashed out at the fence, leaving Toran Road in the lead and he kept on well on the run-in to record a two-and-a-half length verdict over Akasian.

'That's great as it's for local lads in Summerhill including my uncle and father,' said Elliott.

'One of the owners sons had a wedding last night and it looks like we're going to have another night of it!'

Miss Mason turned the opening New Forest Golf Club Maiden Hurdle into a stroll, posting an empathic 13-length success.

'That was a bit overdue although in saying that that's the first time she's run in a maiden for a while as I was trying to get some black type for her,' said O'Brien.

'She'll go for the ladies race at Killarney next Sunday and my daughter Ashling will ride.'

O'Brien went on to complete a double in the concluding bumper when Stylish Article made all under Richard Harding.

Liquid Lunch was sent off 8/13f in the Fianna Fail Maiden Hurdle and ran out a facile 14-length victor.

Ruby Walsh sent his mount on with over a circuit to go and he quickened clear of his rivals after the second last to cruise home.

'I wasn't sure about the ground but Ruby said he handled it well,' revealed winning trainer Brian Hamilton afterwards. 'We'll keep rattling away with him over the summer and take in a few of the festivals. He's a fun horse.'

Niall Madden stepped in for the winning ride on Creme D'arblay in the three-mile handicap hurdle and had to work for his victory.

The Tom Cooper mare was ridden to challenge two out and soon led. She blundered at the last, however, before scoring by a length-and-a-quarter from Hurry Bob.

Darragh Kelly took his chance well on Tyndall to record his first success in the saddle.

The 20-year-old from Gowran sent his mount on after the third last and kept him going well to hold Lemons Legend at bay by a length in the Bridge House Hotel Handicap Hurdle.

Noel Meade saddled his first winner of the new season when Restoration survived a bad blunder at the fifth last to land the beginners chase.

Denis O'Regan sat tight and worked his way back into contention on the even-money shot, leading at the last for a cosy four-and-a-half length success.
