The feature race at Galway, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF 'Ahonoora' Handicap, went the way of well-backed 7-4 favourite Baraweez following a thrilling tussle with Pintura inside the final furlong.
Brian Ellison's charge, successful in the race 12 months ago off an 8lb lower mark, was always well positioned by Donnacha O'Brien, sat in the leader's slipstream as the field turned for home.
The five-year-old had to work hard to wear down the runner-up but, despite running a huge race to finish second in the Topaz Mile earlier in the week, he had enough in reserve to edge ahead close home and land the 60,000 euro first prize by a neck.
The complexion of the At The Races Chase changed in a handful of strides, as odds-on favourite Rebel Fitz returning from a layoff, tied up on the run-in with the race seemingly in safe keeping, allowing 14-1 chance Cailin Annamh to sweep through for an unlikely two-and-three-quarter length victory.
Jessica Harrington's seven-year-old looked set for a placed finish at best as Rebel Fitz produced a mighty leap at the last, but he kept on willingly to spring a shock.< Dollar And A Dream came with a sustained charge from the back of the field to land the opening Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at 7-2, providing Tony Martin with the first leg of a double.< Whatsforuwontgobyu (5-4 fav) brought up the second victory for the County Meath handler when thrashing his rivals in the JPK Fencing Handicap, stretching eight-and-a-half lengths clear under a confident ride from Fran Berry.< Bally Longford (8-1) had to dig deep to overhaul long-time leader Un Beau Roman to score by a length in the fiercely competitive Lord Hemphill Memorial Handicap Chase.< Slygufftou (16-1) displayed a gritty attitude to lead in the dying strides of the Galway Shopping Centre Handicap Hurdle, while the Trappers Inn EBF Fillies Maiden went the way of well-touted newcomer Almela (1-3 fav) who sauntered to a most impressive 19 length success.
