Review CURRAGH 19TH SEP

Class told in the inaugural running of the Shelbourne Hotel Goffs Million as Group 1 winner Miss Beatrix claimed the big pot in great style.

Declan McDonogh settled the filly behind the leaders on the far side group and she quickened away from them with over a furlong to run.

Regime ran on well on the near side to grab second, a length-and-a-quarter behind the winner. He was just a head in front of Drumfire, who had chased the winner home on the far side.

'I didn't want her jumping and running too free. She got the trip well - I thought the ground might effect her,' said winning trainer Kevin Prendergast.

'She got a nice tow off Halford's horse but I thought she got there a little too soon. She kept on well.

'She'll go to the Durkans now for a good rest and come back in January. We have options in either Guineas although Newmarket might be better as the ground tends to be dry. Whatever she does now is a bonus.'

William Hill cut the winner to 20/1 from 33/1 for next year's 1,000 Guineas.

There was a controversial outcome to the Shelbourne Hotel Goffs Fillies Five Hundred with the stewards reversing the placings of the first two.

Wait Watcher ran out a length-and-a-quarter winner but squeezed up Silk Blossom on the rail as Barry Hills' charge came with strong run inside the final furlong.

After a long deliberation the stewards decided that the interference was enough to change the outcome of the race. Wait Watcher's partner Tadhg O'Shea received a four-day ban.

'It's not a nice way to win and I feel sorry for the connections of the other filly,' said Hills afterwards. 'But rules are rules and you have to keep straight. I thought the stewards got it right.'

Sir Michael Stoute's raider Red Bloom stamped her class on the Group 2 Irish National Stud Blandford Stakes.

Jamie Spencer sent the mare to the front just under two furlongs out and she stayed on strongly to record a length-and-three-quarters victory over Sina Cova.

Connections of Newgate Lodge also had a nice pay day as she finished well to grab Smarty Socks in the 100,000 Sportman's Challenge.

Chief Crazy Horse stepped up considerably from his run here on Saturday when gaining a narrow victory over Ireland's Call in the opening Irish Pride Bakeries Race.

Lone Plainsman got a lovely split up the rail to land the betfair.com Handicap while Film Festival battled well to prevail in the concluding O2 Handicap.

The feature event Listowel on day two was claimed in great style by Jubilant Note.

Davy Russell kicked on before the turn on the Mick Murphy-trained gelding and he stretched clear down the straight to score by five-and-a-half lengths in the Lartigue Hurdle.

Bookies had a good start to the day when 25/1 shot Backsideup claimed the Shannon Maiden Hurdle but punters soon hit back as the well-supported Dostoievsky (3/1 to 2/1f) claimed the TP Walsh Memorial Handicap Hurdle.
