Review CURRAGH 14TH JUL

The featured Goffs International Stakes went for export at this poorly attended fixture, with Distant Music making all to beat his two rivals in convincing style.

Richard Hughes didn't need to exert any pressure on the Barry Hills-trained colt to beat Muakaad by 1 1/2L, with Bonnard the same distance adrift in third.

'He is a good horse, with a high cruising speed', said Hills, who has the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood and York's Juddmonte International as likely targets for the 4yo.

Johannesburg completed a hat-trick with an impressive victory in the Group 3 Anglesey Stakes, stretching clear inside the final furlong to beat stablemate Wiseman's Ferry by 4L.

'He is a very good colt and, along with Rock Of Gibraltar, we will decide between the Phoenix Stakes at Leopardstown and the Prix Morny for his next run', said Aidan O'Brien.

The master of Ballydoyle also described Galileo as 'a strong possibility' for the King George, and reports Mozart on course for the Nunthorpe Stakes at York.

The Phoenix Stakes is also on the agenda for Steaming Home, who survived a stewards enquiry after beating Sweet Deimos by 1L in the 2yo maiden.

'She is a laid back filly, and would have won the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot in another few strides', said Dermot Weld.

Masilia (John Murtagh) also completed a hat-trick this season when leading a furlong out to beat Mutakarrim by 3L in the 12f handicap.

'She loves that good ground, stays well and the strong gallop helped her', summed up trainer John Oxx afterwards.

Murtagh and Oxx later completed a double when newcomer Sarayah (7/4-9/4-7/4) finished strongly to collar Moonbi Ridge by 1/2L in the 12f maiden.

Murtagh was earlier in trouble with the stewards after finishing second (beaten 3/4L by Last Theatre) aboard Clare Rose in the 10f handicap.

The former champion was given a two days suspension (July 23-24) for careless riding after causing interference to Madamaa (sixth) over a furlong out.

Ciara Flyer turned what appeared a highly competitive 7f handicap into a procession, although the 3L runner-up Tidy Wager came from well off the pace.
