Review cork 12th Apr Cambiaso looked a colt with a big future when making a hugely impressive debut in the Ballyclough (C & G) Maiden at Cork, the second leg of a double on the card for jockey Wayne Lordan. The Tommy Stack inmate was sent off at 6-4 for his first racecourse appearance and despite being slowly into stride, he quickened clear from two furlongs out to score by 15 lengths from Galileo's Choice.Stack's son and assistant Fozzy said: "We were a bit worried about the ground but he did that very well."He was a bit backward last year and just needed a bit of time. He should stay further, as a half-sister to his dam was placed in the Ribblesdale. We've no immediate plans."Lordan's double was initiated in the opening Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F Fillies Maiden on board David Wachman's Silk Mascara. The 5-1 chance was sent straight to the front in the one-mile heat and although she was headed over two furlongs from home, she battled back to get up by a head.Wachman said: "Silk Mascara is a nice big filly but was very weak last year."She will be better over a trip and should make a stakes performer in time."endendendend© www.irish-racing.com
