Review BELLEWSTOWN 5TH JUL

Paul Carberry and Ruby Walsh both helped themselves to doubles as the 2002 Bellewstown festival came to a close in glorious sunshine.

Noel Meade supplied the first of the champion jockey's pair in the 3m maiden hurdle which, as expected, boiled down to a match between Ikdam Melody and Gli Gli.

The latter eventually came out on top after a good tussle in the home straight, staying on well to record a two-length verdict, the pair fully 25 lengths clear of the rest.

Carberry wasted little time in adding to his tally as Cappaduff (9/2-5/1) emphatically supplemented his recent Kilbeggan triumph in Div. 1 of the 2m4f handicap hurdle.

Mount Kimble (6/4-5/2jf) was a notable drifter prior to the 2m1f maiden hurdle and the market proved a good guide, with Arthur Moore's charge readily outpointed by Macs Valley at the business end.

Walsh's mount, having his first outing since April, went to the front approaching the final flight and drew clear on the run-in to score by seven lengths.

Digyourheelsin completed the Walsh pair when showing plenty of determination

to take the second division of the handicap.

Little Linnet, sixth to subsequent Ribblesdale heroine Irresistible Jewel at Naas last month, opened her account with a 2 1/2 length defeat of Ciara's Delight in the opening 1m4f maiden.

Winning rider Philip Carberry's joy was tempered however when he was hit with a two-day suspension for using his whip with excessive frequency in the closing stages.
