Noel Meade plans to give Layfayette two more runs this season, following his promising run at Ascot on Saturday.

Having disappointed on his reappearance at Leopardstown last month, the seven-year-old shaped much better when third at the Berkshire track.

The Meath trainer said: “I was delighted with his run at Ascot and it was nice to see him come back and show a bit of sparkle.

“It’s the first time he’s been ridden close to the pace and I don’t think he really got the last half-furlong. It’s the first time he’s worn blinkers since he was a four-year-old and they lit him up a little bit.

“He’s extremely hard to get fit and will have two more runs before the end of the season.

“He’ll go to Leopardstown for the Trigo and then to Naas on the last day of the season all going well.”
