Champion owner J.P. McManus followed up yesterday’s Paddy Power Chase success by Perceval Legallois when taking Limerick’s opening Keith Lynch Memorial Maiden Hurdle with the Emmet Mullins-trained McLaurey

Successful on point-to-point debut in November 2023 and placed in two recent maiden hurdles, McLaurey today raced prominently and quickened well in the closing stages to easily beat En Or by 4.25 lengths.

It was McManus’ fourth Limerick festival win and afterwards McLaurey’s jockey Simon Torrens commented “he had been running well over further and I wasn’t sure about the drop in trip so he surprised me a bit.

"I got a lovely lead from the front two horses, he travelled well and time will tell how good a race it was - he is a fine big horse.

“The ground is on the slower side of yielding and is beautiful.”
