Ado McGuinness is watching the weather before deciding on Go Athletico's next outing.

The French-bred gelding was withdrawn due to the going at Tipperary on Sunday and the Lusk handler is hoping for rain in the next couple of weeks.

He has options in France or on Champions Weekend on home soil.

The six-year-old was a Group 3 winner last season on soft ground at the Curragh in late September but has only had two runs this year, and was last seen finishing mid-division at Longchamp in May.

McGuinness decided to take this charge out of the Abergwaun Stakes on good ground at the weekend and said:-

“I couldn’t take the chance. I’ve waited all summer and may just wait another couple of weeks.

“He’ll either go to Longchamp or the Curragh.

“He’s in the Flying Five and there is a Group 3 in Longchamp.

“I’d say he’ll go for one of them, whichever has an ease in the ground.”
