Anna Bunina has proved a great servant to connections with ten career wins and the dual-purpose mare may still have ‘a big one in her’ according to trainer John McConnell.
The eight-year-old daughter of Poet’s Voice is without a win in over two years but continues to hold her form well and ran a cracker at Newmarket last Saturday when beaten just five lengths into seventh, later promoted to sixth, in the Club Godolphin Cesarewitch.
“She got a little bit further back early than we kind of wanted and if she had been a few lengths closer she might have been in the first four or five. She wouldn’t have won but she did us proud again,” said the Stamullen trainer.
“She’s been on the go all year and we might give her a break and it’s coming to that time where she might be put in foal.
“She is Grade 1-placed over jumps and I still think there is a big one in her on the Flat over that trip as she was staying on strong over 2m2f.
“I’d say she’ll definitely run again in the spring, and it could be an option to put her in foal and do that. She’ll have a break over the winter.”
