Mannion and Levins back at number one Their 4/11 chance Twin Falls may have had to yield to Scatterling here on Wednesday night, but owner Seamus Mannion and trainer Johnny Levins were back at the number one at Dundalk courtesy of Shukhov's win in the second division of Crowne Plaza Leading Jockey & Trainer Championship Handicap. Donagh O'Connor did the steering on the now three time course and distance scorer and he came through from mid-division to lead travelling well two furlongs out. Shukhov soon went clear on his way to an easy two length win over Swift Harry (slowly into stride). "Ronan (Whelan) gave him a peach of a ride last time and he needed it to get back in the swing of things. It did his confidence the world of good," said Levins. "Donagh was very clever on him and he travelled everywhere. It's good to get him back. "I'm delighted for Seamus and he deserves it. He's a big supporter of the yard and obviously we are indebted to him." P.B. Beggy, rider of Solar Benny trained by Keith Henry Clarke, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly throughout. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Solar Benny, trained by Keith Henry Clarke, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be slightly lame post race. (GC & EM)
