Magic lunges late to pip stable-mate 33/1 shot New Magic sprang a shock in the opener when getting up close home to pip stable-mate Blaze Brightly. The 2/1 favourite had hit the front over a furlong out but had no answer when tackled by Shane Foley's mount in the closing stages, going down by a neck. "She's a lovely filly and just wasn't ready until now," said trainer Jessica Harrington about the winner. "She a big filly and I thought she was a three-year-old when she arrived in the yard. I trained her dam but she never had any luck. She was a nice mare and I think this is her first foal. "I'm a bit upset for the other one. She's unlucky and has been second three times now."
