Gordon Elliott's Machismo handled the attritional ground in Tramore best of all to win the Ryans Cleaning Services Maiden Hurdle by a wide margin.

The Ocovango gelding came through to head long-time leader Mic Drop before two out and really poured it on between the final two flights.

He popped the last and sailed in by 25 lengths at 16/5 from Unknown Entity (2/1) who got tired and made a mistake at the last. Mic Drop (15/2) weakened to third, a length and a-quarter off the runner-up.

This was Machismo's breakthrough success at the seventh time of asking across four bumpers and three maiden hurdles.

Josh Williamson said: "That's my 11th winner on the track.

"He stays very well and he loved that proper heavy ground today, he just kept plugging away through it.

"He'll get a mark after today and I'm not sure what Gordon, Eddie (O'Leary) and all the team have in mind for him.

"I'm in sixth year in school, so I'll finish that this year and see what way I'll go."
