MUSIC RETURNS TO DONCASTER

Distant Music, last season`s champion British two-year-old, returns to action after a four-month break at Doncaster tomorrow.

The Barry Hills-trained colt will face five rivals in the GNER White Rose Park Stakes over a mile.

Distant Music`s last run came when he finished eighth of 27 behind King`s Best in the Sagitta 2000 Guineas - for which he had been winter favourite.

On his reappearance Distant Music - who won the Champagne Stakes at this meeting in 1999 - was a head second to Barathea Guest in the Lane`s End Greenham Stakes at Newmarket.

Barathea Guest, who went on to finish third in the Guineas, reopposes tomorrow on terms 4lb worse.

Irish 2000 Guineas third Cape Town and Valentino are other interesting runners in the Group Three contest.

Valentino disappointed in the Champagne Lanson Sussex Stakes last time after finishing second, beaten a head by Giant`s Causeway in the St James`s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The field is completed by Geoff Wragg`sconsistent four-year-old Swallow Flight and Henry Cecil`s lightly-raced On The Ridge.

Nine stayers go to post for the Great North Eastern Railway Doncaster Cup including Rainbow High, runner-up 12 months ago.

John Oxx sends last year`s Gold Cup winner Enzeli over for the two-and-a-quarter-mile Group Two event.

David Elsworth`s Prix Kergorlay winner Persian Punch and Churlish Charm also set to line up for the #40,000 race.
