Johnny Murtagh will renew his association with Petrushka in next Wednesday`s Aston Upthorpe Yorkshire Oaks, it was announced today.
With Kieren Fallon sidelined through injury Pat Eddery was down to partner Petrushka in the Kildangan Stud Irish Oaks but was ruled out due to suspension.
Murtagh took over the ride and guided Sir Michael Stoute`s daughter of Unfuwain to an impressive five-and-a-half-length victory over Melikah.
And a spokeswoman for Stoute this morning confirmed: 'Johnny Murtagh will ride Petrushka in the Yorkshire Oaks.'
The Irishman is stable-jockey to John Oxx and became available for the ride on Petrushka following the news that the Curragh trainer`s entry Mouramara will not be running in the Group One contest.
Tim Jones, for Petrushka`s owners Highclere Thoroughbred Racing Ltd, said: 'We are thrilled to bits to get our man.
'Because he rode her so well at the Curragh we were, in Kieren`s absence, desperate to get him and let`s hope he can do the same again.
'It will be a tall order with the last two Epsom Oaks winners (Ramruma and Love Divine) in the race so let`s hope everything goes according to plan.'
