Monashee Mountain won like an odds-on chance should when extending his unbeaten record to four in the Desert King EBF Tetrarch Stakes at the Curragh today.
Held up in quite soft ground by Michael Kinane as Last Call and Legal Jousting forced the issue, the 1-3 chance arrived full of running on the stands' side a furlong out and quickly asserted to look a serious candidate for the Irish 2000 Guineas back at the Curragh later this month.
While Monashee Mountain remains engaged at Newmarket on Saturday, his trainer Aidan O'Brien remarked: "You never know what could happen in the meantime to Giant's Causeway and Bernstein but this horse is an unlikely runner at the moment.
"Giant's Causeway and Bernstein are both well and we are happy with them although Bernstein would really need the ground good."
O'Brien confirmed that Kinane will be aboard Giant's Causeway with Olivier Peslier booked for Bernstein.
