Heavy rain continues to play havoc with the British racing schedule with Redcar`s meeting tomorrow the latest to meet a watery fate.
However, officials at the Teesside course remain hopeful that Friday`s meeting can go ahead and will inspect the course at 9am tomorrow.
Clerk of the course John Gundill said: 'The going is soft, heavy in places but there is standing water in places.
'The forecast is for things to improve from what we have now but there is also the chance of heavy showers.
'The inspection has been called for 9am tomorrow so that we can see what the weather has done and if there`s no chance then we can call a halt to things and not leave trainers hanging on.'
No problems are expected for tomorrow`s other meetings at Newmarket and Taunton.
Newmarket`s clerk of the course Nick Lees this morning reported that ground conditions have continued to ease for the three-day meeting starting tomorrow.
The official going is now soft following further rain overnight and this morning.
Lees said: 'The going is soft. We only had 5mm of rain overnight but it is still raining lightly.
'The forecast was for it to be bright, although there is no sign of that at the moment, and the trouble is that there is the risk of rain at any time.'
Officials at Taunton are confident their National Hunt card should go ahead with no problems.
A spokesman for the course said today: 'We gave the going as good to firm, good in places but if it carries on raining as it has done today we may have to change it to good but no worse than that.
'We`re not too worried.'
Four extra Flat meetings have been scheduled for this month following the recent spell of wet weather and associated abandonments.
The meetings will take place on the all-weather at Wolverhampton on Friday October 20, and on turf at Yarmouth on Sunday October 22, Musselburgh on Thursday October 26 and Chepstow on Saturday October 28.
Three meetings have already been addedto the fixture list in response to the spate of abandonments, one taking place at Windsor last Friday, another scheduled for Brighton this Friday and another at Newcastle a week tomorrow.
However, there is already concern that Brighton`s meeting could be under threat from the elements.
Clerk of the course Jeremy Martin said: 'I`ve never seen Brighton quite so wet.
'We`ve had three inches of rain in the last few days and the course is giving signals that it wouldn`t want too much more.
'I`m going to have another look at the course in the morning to see what tonight`s forecast rain has done and I will update the situation then.'
No problems are expected for Hereford`s meeting the same afternoon.
Wetherby`s meeting scheduled for this afternoon was abandoned following heavy overnight rain.
Racecourse manager James Sanderson said: 'We`re off - I`m afraid. We`ve had more rain and the course is waterlogged in the back straight.'
The stewards inspected the track on Tuesday afternoon when they found the course to be waterlogged in places and decided to look again this morning but further rain in the early hours made the surface unraceable.
Haydock, also due to race today, was called off on Monday leaving Lingfield`s all-weather card as the only remaining programme.
