Exciting prospect Monsignor has run his last race of the season, Mark Pitman revealed today.
The six-year-old, who stretched his unbeaten run over hurdles to six with his second successive Cheltenham Festival win in the Royal & Sun Alliance Novices' Hurdle last month, misses tomorrow's Martell Aintree Hurdle due to unsuitable ground.
And the 1999 Weatherbys Festival Bumper winner will next be seen in action over fences.
"That's it, he will be put away for the season now," Pitman said.
"Then he'll go novice chasing next season."
