MEDICEAN HAS HANDICAP OPTION

Medicean, a close third to Giant's Causeway in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday, has been allotted 8st 10lb in the 41st John Smith's Cup at York next month.

The lightly-raced three-year-old is one of eight entries from Sir Michael Stoute's Newmarket stable for the £135,000 handicap over an extended 10 furlongs on July 15th.

Toby Balding's tough campaigner Bomb Alaska heads the weights on 10st while another interesting entry is the John Gosden-trained Supply And Demand, a seven-length winner of a competitive 10-furlong handicap at Epsom on Vodafone Derby day.

The race has attracted 71 entries in total.
