Red Marauder is reported to be sound following his comeback win at Wetherby on Saturday.
Norman Mason's charge won the John Smith's Handicap Chase by four lengths at the West Yorkshire track having been off the course since winning the First National Bank Gold Cup Chase at Ascot in November 1998.
Mason's assistant Richard Guest told the Racing Channel today: "He's very well, he was sound yesterday morning, his legs were cool and good and they are this morning.
"You get the first run out of the way - it's always the most worrying one - and hopefully we can go and get a few more with him now."
The 10-year-old will now head to Kempton at the end of the month before a possible crack at the Martell Grand National or one of its equivalents.
"We've planned for the Racing Post Chase," Guest said. "It was good, nearly good to firm at the last meeting there and I hope it keeps raining, he wouldn't go there if it wasn't on the soft side.
"He'd be in the Grand National and a few of the staying chases around that time, the Scottish National and the Irish National, I think it would suit him round there."
